24th-year AnandhaDeepavali with a difference celebrated with 500 less privileged children at their homes /orphanages and also in KrishnaswamyKalyanamandapam hall with the number of people permitted during a pandemic. While affordable people enjoy and celebrate Deepavali in all its elements including new clothes, sweets, fireworks, and crackers, many miss all this fun, due to poverty. This is experienced more by children who are in orphanages and in homes for the less privileged. UdhavumUllangal wanted to make a change in the lives of those children 24 years ago and thus dawned the idea of “AnandhaDeepavali” wherein normally about 1300 children are brought from various homes to a large marriage hall and UdhavumUllangal celebrates Deepavali with them in all its grandeur. Various philanthropists and organizations support this event, which is also a fundraiser to manage the education of 500 children across Tamil Nadu and another equal number to whom educational aids are provided. The participants come from places such as homes for the disabled, visually challenged, mentally challenged, hearing and speech impaired, etc.
