With the second wave of COVID, so many people have not only lost their livelihood but also been impacted by the death of a family member or parent due to being affected by COVID, who was the breadwinner in the family. This has created a lot of stressful financial conditions and the impacted children have been forced to drop out of school, college in such cases.
Foundational skills provided in early childhood through education make a lifetime of learning a huge possibility. You will agree that adolescence is also a period of high potential for learning. However, the fact is the majority of the underprivileged teenagers leave school at this point, lured by the prospect of a job, the need to help their families, or turned away by the cost of schooling in the above-mentioned scenario where you lose a parent in dire circumstances such as COVID-19. For those who drop out too early, giving a second chance and learning opportunities are truly essential to ensure that all youth can acquire skills for the labour market. With this background in mind, a team of 10 volunteers including Trustees from NAN SAI Educational and Public Charitable Trust and Udhav Ullangal joined hands and identified children in Tiruvannamalai, who have lost one of their parents and sponsored their education. This will help the kids to continue their education, which is fundamental for their development, growth, and achievements ultimately transforming their lives.
